Delia And Borg Among Election’s Biggest Success Stories
While PN leader Alex Borg and Prime Minister Robert Abela topped the national rankings with 21,825 and 21,682 first-count votes respectively, two other candidates stood out for the scale of their personal mandate: Adrian Delia and Ian Borg. The former PN leader secured 10,988 first-count votes, making him one of the strongest-performing Nationalist candidates in the country. The result represents a remarkable increase from the 4,632 votes he obtained in the 2022 general election. On the Labour side, Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg amassed 10,108 first-count votes, up from 7,075 in 2022. The Dingli native once again demonstrated his popularity among Labour supporters, cementing his position as one of the party’s most influential figures. Both men significantly outperformed many of their parties’ biggest names. After Delia and Borg, the next strongest candidates nationally were PN’s Stephen Spiteri with 8,357 first-count votes and Labour’s Chris Fearne with 7,091. The figures underline the strength of Delia’s and Borg’s personal vote and their ability to attract support well beyond the average candidate. With their vote tallies surging compared to the last election, Adrian Delia and Ian Borg have emerged as two of the clearest individual winners of the 2026 general election. What do you think? •
