Watch: ‘We Need To Level Up’ – Prime Minister Robert Abela Addresses The Nation After Re-Entering Castille

Robert Abela has addressed the nation in his first message since being sworn in once again as Prime Minister of Malta, offering words of hope for his government’s next mandate and the grand plans they have in store for the country. “Last Saturday, the people of Malta and Gozo had a choice in front of them,” Abela started in a message that lasted just under five minutes. “A choice about what kind of future they want for the country.” “This is the first time in Malta’s history that a political movement was trusted with an electoral mandate for four consecutive times,” Abela continued. “A historic choice, at a very important time. A time when, while the challenges around us continue to increase, our people’s will to have a better quality of life in a better Malta is getting stronger.” “This was in fact the inspiration of our electoral manifesto which we presented to the people,” the Prime Minister clarified. “One which is now the programme for our work as the Government, a comprehensive programme to be there for you in every step of your life. A life which we want to make easier, more beautiful and better.” “In the last years, our country made an unprecedented economic jump,” Abela continued “Our economic strength is allowing us to be a shield for our people. We will carry on being focused to continue giving clarity, stability and peace of mind to protect your families, the heart of this nation.” “Now, we need to keep our country’s economic machine going, so that the proposals which you gave us a strong mandate on can be implemented to improve the wellbeing of you and your loved ones,” Abela insisted. “We will continue enacting change and the necessary investment so that this economic machine can continue evolving and being one of the best in Europe. Only this way can we achieve a strong programme of social investment which our people deserve.” “Whoever you are, irrespective of which phase of your life you find yourself in, we want to give you the best life possible,” the Prime Minister pledged. “We want to give you more time for yourself and your family. Together, we dreamt of big things as a united country, and when we were like that, we always arrived. Now, we need to level up.” Going on to detail Vision Malta 2050 – a “holistic plan for our country” which includes everything from the regeneration of Valletta’s Grand Harbour and the Malta in Motion plan to “the strong investment in the public health system” and “Gozo, the island of villages” – Abela said him and his team “will be able to achieve together, so we can altogether write the chapter of this Malta we love so much.” “And we will continue being a successful country if we remain united and we keep believing in Malta,” the Prime Minister finished. “I believe in you because you are Malta. Your dream is our project.” What do you make of Abela’s message? •
