Gov. Lawal urges prayers for peace in Zamfara

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has called on residents to intensify prayers for peace and stability in the state and the country as Muslims celebrated Eid-el-Adha. The governor made the appeal in his Eid message to the people of the state, where he also felicitated with Muslims on the occasion of the festival. Lawal said the significance of Eid-el-Adha, which symbolises sacrifice, obedience and devotion as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, should inspire citizens to pray for unity, peace and development. “I want to use this opportunity to call on the good people of Zamfara, especially our pilgrims, to remain steadfast in prayers for our state and Nigeria,” he said. ‎ The governor noted that the state had continued to make progress in the fight against banditry, adding that some displaced communities were gradually returning to their ancestral homes. According to him, thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) recently returned to Fegin Kanawa village in Gusau Local Government Area after more than a year in displacement. “We are committed to ensuring the safe return of all displaced persons to their homes. Such successes are only possible due to our collective prayers,” he said. Lawal also expressed gratitude to Allah over what he described as the successful airlift of Zamfara pilgrims from the Gusau International Airport for the 2026 Hajj exercise. The governor joined other Muslim faithful for the Eid prayer at the Gusau Central Eid ground.
