Car snatchers allegedly stab Bolt driver to death in Abuja

A Bolt driver, whose identity had yet to be confirmed as of press time, has been allegedly stabbed to death by suspected car snatchers in the Wuse Zone 6 area of Abuja. Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred around 10.23pm last Wednesday during a heavy downpour. It was gathered that the driver had picked up two male passengers around the Lusaka and Tunis streets area of Wuse and was heading towards the Wuse Market axis when the suspects allegedly attempted to force him to divert to another location. Sources said the driver refused to comply with the demand, leading to a struggle as the suspects reportedly grabbed the steering wheel. The confrontation, it was gathered, caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which crashed into an electric pole. An eyewitness, Gabriel Audi, said the suspects then attempted to seize the vehicle, sparking a violent struggle with the driver. According to him, the driver resisted the attack and tried to reclaim control of the car before he was allegedly stabbed with a knife during the confrontation. “While attempting to escape with the vehicle through adjoining routes leading to Wuse Market, the suspects lost control and crashed into an electric pole. They immediately abandoned the car and fled the scene,” Audi said. He added that police officers who later arrived at the scene discovered that the driver had died from his injuries. Efforts to get the reaction of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command were unsuccessful, as the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, did not respond to calls or a text message seeking comment as of the time of filing this report.
