Man drags tenant to court, demands rent arrears
A caretaker, Joseph Salawu, on Monday dragged a tenant, Ambi Simon, before an Upper Customary Court in Kaduna over noncompliance to quit notice. The complainant prayed the court to compel the defendant to vacate the house at Unguwan Boro, Kaduna, and also pay him N31, 250 as arrears for the two months that he stayed after his rent expired. Salawu claimed that the rent expired on March 15, tendering documents as proof of the notice given to the defendant. The defendant however insisted that he was not given any document and that his rent was supposed to expire by June. The Judge, Sa’adatu Kore, adjourned the case to June 22 for a defense hearing.
