
Cebu City students return to tents as damaged schools await rehab
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Hundreds of students here will return to classes in temporary tents this school year as several school buildings remain unsafe months after an earthquake and a typhoon damaged campuses across the city. While classes resume nationwide this month, students in affected schools still study in makeshift learning spaces because authorities have yet to complete rehabilitation work or identify permanent relocation sites for some campuses.
