Baguio's outdated sewage plant hit with violation notice

BAGUIO CITY — The summer capital has been slapped with a notice of violation over the poor performance of its only sewage treatment plant, which discharges what should be cleansed domestic water into one of four rivers emanating from its Baguio headwaters. Since 2020, water quality tests at Balili River confirmed a quadrillion bacterial count of fecal coliform, partly due to the increased volume of septage that has overwhelmed the 35-year-old plant.
