Detained Gawad Kalinga founder hospitalized in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Detained Gawad Kalinga founder Antonio “Tony” Meloto, 76, has been confined at Dr. Yanga’s Hospital in Bocaue since Monday due to health concerns, police said. Maj. Joel Alba, chief of the Angat Police Station, said Meloto was rushed to the hospital after complaining of difficulty breathing. The attending physician recommended confinement to monitor his condition and prevent possible complications. Meloto suffers from psoriasis, a skin disease. “It is a basic human right of a person under police custody to receive needed medical attention,” Alba said.
