Gov't to tap Tupad workers to clean up Metro Manila waterways

MANILA, Philippines — After employing them to help with Brigada Eskwela activities, the government is again tapping displaced workers to help authorities clean waterways and prevent flooding in Metro Manila. Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on Tuesday met with officials of the Department of Transportation (DoTr), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) to coordinate a major cleanup and declogging drive to prevent flooding in Metro Manila as the rainy season begins.
