
Malta Welcomed Over 409,000 Tourists In April Alone
Malta welcomed an estimated 409,403 inbound tourists in April 2026, marking a 16.6% increase compared to the same month last year. According to newly published figures, tourists spent a total of 2.13 million nights in Malta during April, while total expenditure reached €335 million. Most visitors stayed in rented accommodation establishments, which accounted for 89.2% of all guest nights recorded during the month. The figures also show strong growth across the first four months of the year. Between January and April 2026, Malta welcomed 1,215,966 tourists, who collectively spent 6.6 million nights on the islands. Average expenditure per tourist stood at €756. The latest statistics continue to highlight the importance of tourism as one of Malta’s key economic sectors, with visitor numbers and spending both showing significant growth compared to 2025.
