12-Year-Old Son Allegedly Attacked By Father At White Rocks Testifies In Court
The 12-year-old boy who was allegedly assaulted by his father at the abandoned White Rocks complex earlier this year testified behind closed doors earlier this morning. The case centres on allegations that a 49-year-old Italian man attempted to murder his two children, a 12-year-old boy and his 10-year-old sister, during an incident that shocked Malta in March as reported by Times of Malta . According to previous court testimony, the father allegedly laced the children’s fast food with sleeping pills before attacking them at the former White Rocks site. The girl managed to escape and raise the alarm, reportedly telling a woman who found her: “My father killed my brother.” The boy was later discovered barely conscious, leaning against a low wall and suffering from serious head injuries. During Tuesday’s sitting, forensic expert Edward Cherubino confirmed that the accused had spoken to a psychiatrist on the day of his arrest. The 10-year-old girl had also testified in earlier proceedings behind closed doors. Previous court sittings heard how security footage allegedly captured the father tampering with the children’s food before the incident. Prosecutors have also stated that the accused admitted to police that he had placed sleeping pills in the meals. The man, whose identity cannot be published by court order, is pleading not guilty to the attempted murder of his two children. Magistrate Franco Agius is presiding over the case. The prosecution is being led by lawyers Anthony Vella, Kaylie Bonett and Etienne Savona from the Office of the Attorney General, assisted by police inspectors Kurt Zahra Colombo and Christian Xuereb. Lawyers Giannella De Marco and Charles Mercieca are appearing for the defence, while lawyers Maxilene Pace and Charmaine Cherett are representing the children’s mother. •
