
Estrada asks Sandiganbayan: No BJMP uniform, handcuffs during trial
MANILA, Philippines — The camp of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada on Tuesday asked the court to allow him not to wear the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) uniform and handcuffs during the hearing of his graft case in the Sandiganbayan. Lawyer Noel Ostrea made this request before the Sandiganbayan Second Division, which handles the graft case of Estrada and former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) chief Manual Bonoan. “We would like to request that since he voluntarily surrendered and posted bail,” Ostrea told the court.
