CEBU CITY, Philippines — Workers can expect either a three-day respite or a bigger paycheck next week as the country marks Philippine Independence Day on June 12, giving many Filipinos a long weekend and entitling those who report for work to double pay. The June 12 observance falls on a Friday this year, creating a three-day weekend that runs through Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14.
