Demolition: Aduda meets community leaders, assures victims of intervention
The Minority Leader of the 9th Senate, Senator Philip Aduda, has met with leaders and stakeholders of Paipe and Durumi III communities in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), who were affected by recent demolition exercises, and assured them of his intervention. Abuja Metro learnt that tension erupted on Sunday morning after officials of the Federal Capital Territory Development Control Department reportedly moved into Paipe and Durumi III communities with bulldozers and demolished some houses belonging to indigenous residents. At a meeting held at his Wuse II office in Abuja, Aduda, who is also the APC senatorial candidate for the FCT in the 2027 election, expressed commitment to finding a lasting solution to the demolition of ancestral homes in the territory. “I understand the concerns of the people, and I will do my best to engage the relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure that this issue is addressed in the interest of justice and the welfare of our communities,” he said. He urged leaders and stakeholders of the affected communities to remain calm, assuring them that he would explore all necessary avenues to ensure justice regarding the demolitions. Our correspondent reports that the meeting was attended by the FCT Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Hon. Musa Dikko; the Executive Director of the Original Inhabitants Youth Empowerment Organisation (OIYEO), Commandant Isaac David; and other stakeholders in the FCT.
