Over 50 Dead Pigeons Found In Neglected Qormi Loft

The Animal Welfare Directorate has revealed that more than 50 dead pigeons were discovered during a joint inspection carried out alongside the Environmental Health Directorate at a residence in Qormi . Authorities said the pigeon loft, which housed racing pigeons, was found abandoned and in a deeply neglected condition. Only four pigeons were found alive at the scene. The surviving birds were confiscated and are now under veterinary care before being placed in appropriate accommodation. Officials confirmed that the owner will be prosecuted in court. In a statement, the Animal Welfare Directorate thanked the Environmental Health Directorate for its collaboration and praised animal welfare officers for continuing to handle distressing cases of cruelty and neglect with professionalism and compassion. The directorate also urged the public to report suspected cases of neglect as early as possible, stressing that timely intervention can help prevent further suffering.
