Japan keeps samurai horse festival tradition alive by adapting to climate change
For more than a millennium, Japan has celebrated its samurai heritage with armoured horseriders charging through the countryside. Up until two years ago, the tradition was threatened by the soaring summer temperatures brought on by climate change. But instead of accepting to the dangers of the sweltering conditions, organisers decided to adapt, relieving both riders and horses alike by switching the event to spring.
