Gunmen attack immigration office in Ogbomoso, disarm officers
Suspected gunmen on Tuesday night attacked an office of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, carting away weapons belonging to officers on duty. The attack reportedly occurred at about 10 p.m., causing panic among residents of the area. Sources familiar with the incident disclosed that the assailants stormed the facility and overpowered security personnel before making away with their firearms. An immigration officer, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, confirmed the incident in a message sent to Daily Trust on Wednesday evening. The officer, however, did not provide further details regarding the number of attackers involved or whether any casualties were recorded during the operation. As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
