APC loses 2 Reps members to ADC, PRP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday lost two members in the House of Representatives following their defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP). The defections were announced by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, during plenary today, June 3. The lawmakers are Abubakar Zango, representing Yola North/Yola South/Girei Federal Constituency of Adamawa State, and . Rabilu Bala, who represents Jama’are/Itas-Gadau Federal Constituency of Bauchi State. Zango dumped the APC for the ADC, while Bala defected from the ruling party APC to the PRP. In separate letters read by the Speaker on the floor of the House, the lawmakers said their decisions followed consultations with their constituents and were guided by their conscience. They stated that the defections were aimed at advancing the interests and welfare of the people they represent. The latest development comes amid a wave of political realignments in the House of Representatives, with several lawmakers changing party affiliations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
