Tricycle operator allegedly beats lover to death

A tricycle operator identified as IK has been accused of fatally assaulting his female partner in Ogbogoro, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The deceased was reportedly the mother of the suspect’s two children. The incident allegedly occurred at a guest house along CPM Street in Ogbogoro on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. According to reports, the suspect fled after the incident, leaving behind the woman’s body and their two children. A resident of the area, Mr. Senibo, told journalists that at about 7:00 a.m., residents discovered two young girls, both under the age of six, alongside the lifeless body of an adult woman inside a stationary tricycle parked along the street. He said operatives of the Ozuoba Police Division were immediately alerted and promptly responded to the scene. According to him, the older child informed police officers that her father had used an object to beat her mother at a guest house where the family had spent the previous night. The child reportedly told investigators that after noticing the woman could no longer stand or speak, the suspect took her out of the guest house, abandoned her body and the children inside the tricycle, and fled. The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, ASP Blessing Agabe Kaborlo, who confirmed the incident said efforts were underway to apprehend the suspect. She stated that the Ozuoba Police Division received information from a passerby who observed two children and a woman who appeared lifeless inside a blue tricycle parked by the roadside. “The Ozuoba Police Division patrol team swiftly moved to the scene, where officers found the lifeless body of a woman and two children aged about five years and six months respectively. “The five-year-old child informed the police that her father used an object to beat her mother during the night, leaving her seriously injured. When the father noticed that the woman had become weak, they allegedly rushed her to an undisclosed hospital where she was pronounced dead. “A sister to the deceased was later contacted by the police and positively identified the body. The remains of the deceased have since been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and further investigation. “The deceased’s sister has taken custody of the two children, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect,” she said.
