Emergency services have extinguished a house fire in Gisborne.

Fire and Emergency sent three teams to George St in Mangapapa around 9am on Friday.

There were no injuries, but the property was severely damaged.

Police were investigating the cause, but said the fire appeared to have been intentionally lit.

They said one person was helping with inquiries.
