Indonesia and South Korea bolster navy ties in Busan
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) is working to strengthen bilateral ties with the Republic of Korean Navy (ROKN) of South Korea during the 2026 Diplomatic Voyage Visit and Kartika Jala Krida (KJK) cadet training program.
The bilateral ties were strengthened when Indonesian Navy Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral Denih Hendrata, met with Deputy Commander of the Republic of Korea Fleet (ROK Fleet), Rear Admiral Lee Namgyu, aboard the KRI Bima Suci, which was docked at Busan Naval Base in South Korea on Wednesday (June 3), according to a press statement of Indonesian Fleet Command received in Jakarta on Thursday (June 4).
"The meeting took place as part of the Diplomatic Voyage Visit and Kartika Jala Krida training program in Busan, South Korea," Hendrata said.

Both officers discussed several matters, he added, including efforts to strengthen military cooperation and plans for collaboration in enhancing maritime defense. Hendrata also introduced various aspects of Indonesian culture to senior officials of the South Korea Navy.
The Naval Academy cadets and KRI Bima Suci personnel promoted Indonesian culture to the international community through some arts and cultural performances. The Indonesian and South Korean officers also held a deck inspection of the KRI Bima Suci and introduction session to cadets.
Hendrata hoped it would further strengthen relations between Indonesia and South Korea and open more opportunities for defense cooperation.
"I also hope the goodwill voyage of the KRI Bima Suci will not only serve as an educational platform for Naval Academy cadets, but also become an effective instrument of maritime diplomacy in building strong relations with friendly countries," he said.
