Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have rescued a nursing mother and her six-month-old child, who were abducted on Wednesday in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Armed bandits reportedly stormed the Ijalu area of Egbe, along the Solid Rock School axis on Wednesday around 8pm on June 3, 2026, and abducted the nursing mother, her baby and others.
The Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, confirmed the incident and rescue in a statement to newsmen in Lokoja on Thursday.

He stated that the incident occurred in the late hours of Wednesday, 3rd June 2026, when terrorists invaded a residence near Solid Rock School in Ijalu, Egbe.
In the process of the attack, he added, the armed hoodlums abducted five members of a family, made up of a woman, her infant child and three others.
Lt Abdullahi said, “Upon receiving the distress report, troops immediately mobilised in conjunction with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), launching a pursuit operation along the terrorists’ withdrawal route.
“The sustained pressure mounted by the security team forced the terrorists to abandon Mrs Adekemi Idowu and her six-month-old child near Oro axis before fleeing into the surrounding area”.
The Army spokesperson added further that the rescued victims have reunited with their families, while troops have continued aggressive search operations aimed at rescuing the remaining victims and apprehending the perpetrators.
