Italy's twice Olympic champion Marcell
Jacobs said he was moving in the right direction after going
under 10 seconds in the 100 metres at the Golden Gala Diamond
League meeting in Rome on Thursday.
The 31-year-old came fifth in the race, which was won by
reigning Olympic champion Noah Lyles, with a time of 9.99
seconds.
He had a fine explosive start and finished strongly too,
although he was not as fluid as he would have liked in the
middle section.
"I think we'll have even more fun in the future," Jacobs, who
has had some difficult seasons after winning the 100 metres at
the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and helping Italy win the 4x100m relay
gold at the same games, told reporters.
"Running under 10 seconds always gives you a lot of confidence,
it's always nice.
"This race shows that we're working well, although there's still
some work to do".
