Three people have been arrested in Mosta following a police investigation into alleged drug trafficking that led to the seizure of around 1.3 kilograms of suspected cocaine.
Police said the drugs have an estimated street value of €160,000.
The arrests followed days of surveillance on a 31-year-old man believed to be the main suspect in the case. Investigators reportedly observed a number of suspicious movements, particularly during the night.
The man was frequently seen leaving a residence in Triq Grognet and visiting an apartment in Triq Rużar Briffa, where a 33-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were allegedly residing.
Searches carried out at both properties led to the discovery of the suspected cocaine, along with various items allegedly linked to drug trafficking. Police also seized a number of mobile phones and pieces of jewellery.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia has been informed of the case and appointed an inquiry.
The three suspects are currently being held at the Floriana police lock-up and are expected to be arraigned in the coming days.
Police investigations are ongoing.
