CEBU CITY, Philippines — World title prospect Kenneth “Lover Boy” Llover and American opponent Michael Angeletti both cleared the official weigh-in ahead of their International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight world title eliminator set on Saturday, June 6 in Nagoya, Japan.
Llover, the protege of former two-division world champion Gerry Peñalosa, registered 117.7 pounds, while Angeletti came in slightly lighter at 117.5 pounds. Their 12-round showdown was officially confirmed following the successful weigh-in on Friday.
The winner between Llover and Angeletti will become the mandatory challenger for IBF bantamweight champion Jose Salas Reyes.
Llover enters the bout as the IBF’s top contender, while Angeletti sits at No. 6 in the rankings. Both fighters remain undefeated. Llover holds a perfect 17-0 record with 12 knockouts, while Angeletti carries a 14-0 slate with eight knockouts.

Llover is also ranked No. 4 by the World Boxing Council and recently broke into the World Boxing Organization rankings at No. 13.
Nery comes overweight
Meanwhile, former three-division world champion John Riel “Quadro Alas” Casimero will still push through with his bout against Mexican contender Luis Nery, despite the latter failing to make the weight limit during the official weigh-in.
Casimero came in at 123.4 pounds, safely within the 124-pound limit for their 10-round clash. Nery, however, tipped the scales at 127.2 pounds, more than three pounds over the limit. The Mexican fighter has previously faced similar weight issues in past bouts.
Despite the setback, Casimero opted to proceed with the fight. Nery is expected to wear heavier gloves.
Casimero is looking to bounce back after suffering a fifth-round knockout loss to Japan’s Tom Mizokoshi last December in Kyrgyzstan. He holds a 35-5-1 record with 24 knockouts, while Nery brings a 37-2 slate with 28 knockouts.
In another undercard bout, former world title contender Vince Paras also made weight, registering 115.7 pounds. His Japanese opponent Aoi Yokoyama weighed in at 116 pounds for their scheduled eight-round contest.
