Depok (ANTARA) - The University of Indonesia (UI) and Monash University have agreed to establish a joint degree program in Information Systems as part of efforts to strengthen international collaboration in higher education.
Wisnu Jatmiko, dean of the Faculty of Computer Science (Fasilkom) at UI, said the partnership would help improve educational quality and expand international opportunities for students.
“We greatly appreciate all the efforts that have been made to realize this agreement. This joint degree program marks an important milestone in strengthening Fasilkom UI’s international partnerships,” Jatmiko said in Depok on Friday
The collaboration will not only focus on the implementation of academic programs but also opens opportunities for cooperation in research and digital education, he said.
UI is also exploring potential collaborations in the Bachelor of Computer Science and Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence programs.
“We hope this partnership will continue to expand across various academic levels and disciplines in the future,” he added.
Juliana Sutanto, Associate Dean International of Monash University's Faculty of Information Technology, described the joint degree program as a new chapter in the relationship between the two universities that had been built through various research initiatives.
“We are delighted to expand our collaboration with Fasilkom UI. For many years, we have worked together on a range of academic and research activities, and now this relationship is evolving through a more structured educational program,” said Sutanto.
During discussions, the two institutions reviewed several strategic issues, including curriculum alignment, international student admissions, and opportunities to develop international programs in information systems, computer science, and artificial intelligence.
The universities also exchanged views on the use of artificial intelligence in higher education. Monash University shared its experience in adopting teaching approaches that respond to advances in AI technology while maintaining a focus on students' core competencies and skills.
Through this partnership, Fasilkom UI and Monash University aim to deliver globally competitive educational programs while expanding opportunities for students to gain international academic experience that aligns with industry needs and future technological developments.
