Residents of Palermo angered by
streets being closed off for the wedding bash between
British-Albanian-Kosovar singer-songwriter Dua Lipa and her
newly wed British actor husband Callum Turner have put up signs
saying "Palermo is not for rent, our piazza is not your living
room".
Citizens in the Sicilian capital have rejected Mayor Roberto
Lagalla's contention that the event will bring "great
advertising returns for the city of Palermo" and have posted
their protests on the barricades sealing off the street that
leads to the city's modern art gallery, where Lipa and Turner
are holding a buffet Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile paparazzi led by the British tabloids are buzzing
around Palermo trying to find out where the main event will be
Friday night.
Lipa, 30, and London-born Fantastic Beasts star Turner, 36, got
hitched in a registry office in the British capital earlier this
week and picked Palermo for their reception.
