
According to the victim, Vella sent multiple threatening voice messages between 3 and 4 June, including one in which he allegedly said he would chop her into pieces, turn her into mincemeat and feed her to animals.
He also allegedly threatened police, saying he “did not give a damn” about authorities and would “kill the police” if charges were filed.
The woman later informed police that Vella had called again and threatened to kill her and their children if he was imprisoned.
The court issued a protection order in favour of the victim.
Vella received an 18-month prison sentence suspended for four years, along with a €1,000 fine.
The defence was Silvan Pulis. The prosecution was led by Inspector Audrey Micallef. The case was heard by Magistrate Nadia Helen Vella.
