10 Things I Hate About You's Andrew Keegan Reveals Shocking Residuals
It no longer feels like Christmas morning for David Krumholtz when his residual checks from The Santa Clause arrive.
The 48-year-old detailed how much money he still receives over three decades after the beloved 1994 holiday film starring Tim Allen's release.
"They’re minimal because the movie plays so much," David told Page Six in an interview published June 5. "This is how residuals work: every time it plays, you make less. It’s a grade scale."
The Numb3rs star, who played Head Elf Bernard in The Santa Clause and its two sequels, noted that initially "it was good," but said that now he receives about "$150 bucks a year" from the project.
As for which of his acting gigs he's making the most from in the form of residuals? David revealed it was 2023's Oppenheimer, but initially played it coy when asked to divulge how much he makes from the Christopher Nolan blockbuster.
"That’s none of your business!" he said. "What kind of question is that?"
David ultimately relented, though, admitting, "It’s $12.73. It’s enough to buy a hot dog in New York."
The Supergirl actor's discussion of residuals comes as the topic has been more openly discussed among his peers in Hollywood as of late. In fact, his 10 Things I Hate About You costar Andrew Keegan recently addressed how much money he still makes from the 1999 film.

“I think 10 Things are probably the biggest checks still,” the actor—who also appeared in Party of Five and Full House—shared during a recent appearance on The McBride Rewind podcast. “There are still residuals that come from all those shows, they’re just $10, $20, $50, $80."
The 47-year-old went on to detail how much smaller many of the residual checks he receives from other projects tend to be.
"I think it’s really funny because I’ll get—different shows obviously—but I’ll get one cent checks,” he revealed. “It costs like 40 cents to send in the mail."
