Makka Sulaev, a 20-year-old
Chechen-Italian who killed her Chechen father Akhyad with two
stab wounds in Nizza Monferrato on March 1, 2024, during an
umpteenth family dispute, was acquitted by an appeals court
Friday for acting in self-defence of herself and her mother,
overturning an over nine-year first-instance verdict.
The sentence was handed down by the Court of Assizes of Appeal
in Turin.
In the first instance trial two years ago, the young woman had
been sentenced to nine years and four months.
The judges also ordered her release; until now, she had been
subject to a mandatory reporting order.
