Madonna has announced that she will release “Confessions II – The Film” on YouTube on June 8 at 11 a.m. ET.
The film, directed by David Toro and Solomon Chase (Torso), is set to have its world premiere on Friday night at New York City’s Beacon Theatre as part of the Tribeca Film Festival. Madonna will be on hand to premiere the film and join the directors for a conversation with Jimmy Fallon.
According to the poster, the film will feature guest appearances by Arca, Archie Madekwe, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cole Palmer, Debi Mazar, Gwendoline Christie, Honey Dijon, João Pedro, Julia Garner, Kate Moss, Odessa A’zion, Richard E. Grant, Shygirl, and Madonna’s own daughter, Lourdes Leon.
According to the festival website, “Confessions II” is an “ambitious visual work exceeding 10 minutes, built around the first six tracks of Madonna’s forthcoming album including ‘I Feel So Free’ and ‘Bring Your Love’ with Sabrina Carpenter. It unfolds as a single, continuous piece, weaving together interconnected, music-driven sequences into an immersive cinematic experience. A film that gives physicality to the music, Confessions II lives in the tension between control and surrender, between being seen and disappearing into a crowd.”
Madonna is currently on a busy promotional run for “Confession II,” which is slated for release on July 3 via Warner Records. In April, she debuted this era’s first single “I Feel So Free” ahead of her surprise performance during Carpenter’s Coachella headlining set on Weekend Two. During the set, they debuted their new duet “Bring Your Love,” which they released to streaming services soon after.
Just yesterday, Madonna took over New York City’s Times Square for a surprise performance in partnership with Grindr where she performed three songs from both “Confessions on a Dance Floor” and its upcoming sequel. To coincide with the performance, she dropped the third single from “Confessions II,” “Love Sensation,” to streaming along with a radio edit.
