U.S. forces intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf, Central Command said on Friday (June 5, 2026).
Iran fired seven ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain hours after CENTCOM shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that were launched toward the Strait of Hormuz, the statement said, adding that the attack drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic.

U.S. military says Iran launched 7 missiles at Kuwait, Bahrain
United States military officials said Iran launched seven ballistic missiles toward the neighbouring Gulf nations of Kuwait and Bahrain on Friday (June 5, 2026), hours after reporting four Iranian “one-way attack” drones were thwarted.
In a statement posted to X, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said it intercepted six of the missiles Iran launched and the seventh “did not reach its intended target.”
“There are currently no reports of harm to U.S. personnel, and Iranian claims of damaging the U.S. 5th fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false,” the statement said.

Air raid alert sounded in Bahrain: Interior Ministry
An air raid alert was issued in Bahrain, the Gulf country’s Interior Ministry said on Saturday (June 6, 2026), after new U.S. airstrikes in Iran and Kuwait’s announcement of intercepting missiles and drones.
“The siren has been sounded ... Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place,” the Ministry said on X.

U.S. strikes radar installations in Iran
The United States military said it attacked radar sites on Iran’s southern coast Friday (June 5, 2026) in the latest flare-up to threaten the ceasefire in West Asia war.
U.S. Central Command said in a statement that its forces shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz, then attacked Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in the city of Goruk and on Qeshm Island.
“The attack drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic,” while the strikes on radar installations “defend against further attacks”, the statement said.

Iran Guards say targeted U.S. bases in Gulf: state media
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said Saturday (June 6, 2026) they hit “enemy bases” in the Gulf, state media reported, after US forces said they struck radar sites in Iran.
“Following the invasion of the child-killing and terrorist U.S. Army into Sirik and Qeshm Island, enemy bases in the region were hit by aerial missiles,” state broadcaster IRIB reported, quoting the Guards.

U.S. authorizes sale of $2 billion in anti-drone weapons to Kuwait
The United States announced Friday (June 5, 2026) its approval of a $1.98 billion arms sale to Kuwait, one of the Gulf countries hit by Iranian strikes during the Middle East war.
In a statement, the U.S. State Department said it would allow purchases of counter-drone technology from defence company Anduril, which was founded by a supporter of President Donald Trump.
“This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a major non-NATO ally that has been an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East,” the statement said.

Kuwait says responding to ‘hostile’ missile and drone attacks
Kuwait’s military said early Saturday (June 6, 2026) it was responding to “hostile” missile and drone attacks, days after a strike on the country’s international airport killed one and wounded dozens.
“Kuwaiti air defences are currently responding to hostile missile and drone attacks,” the military said on X, without specifying their origin.
“The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces confirms that any explosions that may be heard are the result of air defence systems intercepting hostile attacks,” the Kuwaiti Army added.
