More than 21.2 million people have spent money under the “Thai Chuay Thai Plus” (Thais Help Thais) co-payment scheme, with 142,610 users exhausting their full monthly entitlement of 1,000 baht during the programme’s first week, the Ministry of Finance said on Saturday.
According to the ministry’s Fiscal Policy Office, data as of 11pm on Friday showed the number of registered merchants has reached 992,898, reflecting strong participation from businesses nationwide.
Total spending under the programme since June 1 has reached 12.53 billion baht, comprising 7.3 billion contributed by the government and 5.24 billion paid by consumers under the 60:40 co-payment structure.
For food-delivery purchases, spending on participating platforms will be eligible for co-payment from June 15 to Sept 30, between 6am and 9pm daily.
Food and beverage vendors wishing to join the programme via delivery platforms can register starting on June 10.
About 26 million people have registered for the co-payment scheme, which will offer up to 4,000 baht per person to help ease the cost of living, from June 1 to Sept 30.
Under the programme, government support is capped at 200 baht per day, giving participants a total daily spending capacity of 333 baht, with monthly government assistance limited to 1,000 baht per person.
