Thousands of people gathered in Mexico City to attempt a Guinness World Record for the world's largest human wave, days before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Thousands of people gathered along one of Mexico City's main avenues on Saturday in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the world's largest human wave.
Aerial footage showed participants raising their arms in unison as the wave stretched for nearly a kilometre through the capital.
Many attendees wore football jerseys and waved Mexican flags as excitement builds ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off in just a few days.
The event also featured traditional dancers and performers in World Cup-themed Day of the Dead costumes, combining football fever with Mexican culture in a colourful public celebration.
