Maltese climber Rita Saliba has made history after becoming the first Maltese woman to reach the summit of Denali, the highest mountain in North America.
The incredible achievement comes just months after Saliba successfully climbed Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America, adding another major milestone to her growing list of mountaineering accomplishments.
Over the past two years, Saliba has also conquered Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa and Mount Elbrus in Europe, steadily taking on some of the world’s most iconic mountains.
However, Denali proved to be her toughest challenge yet.
Saliba described the expedition as the most demanding experience she has faced, pushing her physically, mentally and emotionally further than ever before.
The climb was made even more difficult by severe weather conditions, which left her group stranded for six days. Despite the setback, the team managed to make up for lost time and successfully reached the summit on 3rd June.
Beyond the personal achievement, Saliba is also using her expedition to support two important causes. She is currently collecting donations through her Revolut (@ritanf2p) account for the Association for Abandoned Animals and Puttinu Cares.
Her historic ascent is being celebrated as another proud moment for Maltese sport and adventure, proving that determination and resilience can take you all the way to the top of the world.
