Cebu City, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte visited the Diocesan Shrine of St. Anthony de Padua in Baybay City, Leyte, after joining a Brigada Eskwela activity at a public school in the area on Friday, June 4, 2026.
In a social media post on Sunday, June 7, the Vice President shared photos of her visit to the shrine, a major pilgrimage site for Catholic devotees seeking miracles and expressing gratitude.

The photos showed Duterte lighting candles and praying inside the church.
“Nag-alay tayo ng dasal at nagsindi ng kandila bilang pagpapasalamat sa lahat ng mga biyaya at para sa kapayapaan ng ating bayan,” part of her caption read.
(“We offered prayers and lit candles to thank God for all the blessings and for peace in our country.”)
Beyond praying for national unity and peace, the vice president also shared a deeply personal aspect of her pilgrimage — disclosing that she prayed sincerely for the return of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, to the Philippines.
“Taimtim din natin na ipinagdasal ang pag-uwi ni Dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa ating bansa,” her caption further read.

Concluding her post, Duterte issued a brief message, urging her fellow Filipino citizens to continuously show love for the country amid the challenging times:
“Mga kababayan, mahalin natin ang Pilipinas — para sa Diyos, sa Bayan, at sa bawat Pamilyang Pilipino.”
(My countrymen, let us love the Philippines, for God, for country, and for the Filipino family.)
