White Lotus Season 3: Where You’ve Seen the Cast Before
If you were to ask Carrie Coon, she'd tell you her husband Tracy Letts just wasn't cut out for The White Lotus in Thailand.
"Here’s the thing about Tracy: He’s allergic to the sun and he hates the ocean," the actress, who played Laurie on season three, said on a 2025 episode of The Julia Cunningham Show. "So this was not the season for him. He needs to be in some cold-weathered season down the line."
But even if Tracy wasn’t right for that installment of The White Lotus, it’s clear that he and Carrie are right for each other.
Sixteen years before she received a Tony Awards nomination for her performance in Bug, she met the playwright in 2010 while working on Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?—which earned Carrie her first nod and Tracy his second win. And their immediate connection was undeniable.
"I was in a relationship when I met Tracy and so was he," she said on a 2020 episode of PeopleTV's Couch Surfing. "But I think to anyone who was in the room with us, it was really obvious that there was something inevitable that was going to happen. I almost ran into him in the doorway on the first day of rehearsal, and he said, 'I’m really glad you’re here.' And that was it."
Fast-forward three years later and Tracy and Carrie tied the knot—albeit it wasn't exactly a fairy tale.
"We were going to go to the courthouse to get married, and the night before, I suddenly came down with pains," the August: Osage County writer told Vanity Fair in 2013. "We went to the emergency room, and I had my gallbladder removed the next day. So she went and she found the Lutheran chaplain there in the hospital, who had never performed a wedding before, who came to our hospital room and performed the ceremony there. So it was a lovely, intimate, personal ceremony. We had a great time."

And that great time continued as they grew their family with son Haskell, born in 2018, and their daughter—whose name has yet to be revealed—three years later. Naturally, parenthood has changed their dynamic—and their work.
"The irresistible job is always the one we accommodate," Carrie explained to Harper’s Bazaar in 2021. "If one of us gets an offer that is like, 'This is really special,' we make room for it."
‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Premiere Date and Plot Lines Revealed
What don't they make room for? Possessiveness and envy.
"We’re not jealous people," the Gone Girl star said on a 2025 episode of the WTF With Marc Maron podcast, later adding, "So it’s nice to be in a relationship where we can always talk about, like, 'Who are you attracted to on set?'"
Noting Tracy "notices every single woman on the street," Carrie said he will tell her who he has a crush on. "We love talking about it. It’s fun," she continued. "It’s interesting to know what your partner’s into. It’s titillating."
It never crosses a boundary, either. "We don’t really like lines," the 45-year-old shared, noting her 60-year-old husband lost a partner when he was younger and "would never begrudge anyone a human experience."
"He sort of embraced being a person of appetites and acknowledging that we have these proclivities," Carrie said. "Monogamy is sort of something we’ve imposed on ourselves through—we were supposed to have babies and die when were like 30, and that’s not the way life is anymore. So I think you’ve got to be open-minded about what engages you in the world, what sparks your imagination and where your passion is. And I think if you’re willing to stay open to that, then you’re living a more full life. And I don’t think either one of us would want to keep the other from living in the fullest way possible."
But no, they’re not in an open relationship. "Settle down, internet!" she wrote on X in 2025. "I said 'open minded' not 'open.'"
Ultimately, she appreciates the level of honesty they have in their union.
"I have a healthy, happy marriage," Carrie told The Guardian in 2021. "When I was younger, let's say I didn’t always conduct myself with integrity in my relationships. Now I’ve found a partner who I can be truly honest with, I never want to go back."
