Prabowo shares MBG lunch with Sekolah Rakyat students in Bali

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto shared a Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) lunch with students at Sekolah Rakyat Junior High School (SRMP) 17 in Tabanan, Bali, on Sunday.

According to a statement from the Government Communications Agency (Bakom), the lunch took place after Prabowo addressed students and parents at the tuition-free school.

"Reporting! Lunch is ready," a student told the president.

"Proceed!" Prabowo replied.

The president then headed to the dining hall, where he briefly spoke with the student before joining pupils and parents for lunch at a long table.

One student simply remarked, "Delicious," after finishing the meal.

Earlier, Prabowo said the Sekolah Rakyat (People's School) program reflects the government's commitment to helping disadvantaged families gain access to quality education.

"Sekolah Rakyat is indeed intended to assist those struggling the most, those least empowered," he said.

Prabowo also noted strong public interest in the program. According to reports he received, around 400 children have registered for SRMP 17, although the school can currently accommodate only 270 students.

In response, he urged cooperation between the central and regional governments to expand the program.

"We must add more as quickly as possible. Regional leaders should work on it, and if necessary, the central government will provide the land," he said.

The government aims to establish at least one Sekolah Rakyat unit in every district and city in Bali.

During the visit, Prabowo toured school facilities, interacted with students and parents, and watched performances by several pupils.

The government classifies both the MBG and Sekolah Rakyat programs as national priorities aimed at improving human resource quality.

As of May 2026, around 63 million beneficiaries had received MBG services through more than 29,000 kitchens nationwide, while permanent Sekolah Rakyat facilities are being developed in various regions.
