Simone Biles Breaks Down $23,000 Price Tag for Red Carpet Glam
Simone Biles is opening up about a near-fatal incident.
The seven-time Olympic gold medalist shared she’s recovering after a medical emergency nearly took her life.
“I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age,” she wrote over a photo of herself wearing three hospital bracelets on Instagram Stories June 7, “but almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week.”
Indeed, the athlete’s experience was even scarier considering her husband Jonathan Owens was out of town at the time of the incident.
“This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life,” she explained, “especially since Jonathan was in Indy for practices.”
“I’ve been in bed resting this week, I’ll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers,” she added. “Loooovveeee y’all.”
The 29-year-old also shared the elaborate flower arrangements she’s been sent amid her health scare, as well as a snap of herself resting in bed alongside her two dogs. In the cozy bedroom pic, Simone also shared a screenshot of her elevated heart rate, which was 126 bpm.
But this wouldn’t be Simone’s first health scare. After all, the gymnast previously shared the impact competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics had on her body.
“I went back to the village, took the elevator and my body literally collapsed,” Simone told L'Equipe, the Associated Press’ French sports outlet, in an interview published in April 2025. “I was sick for 10 days.”

And nearly a year after the games, where Simone secured three gold medals and one silver, she still felt the toll on her body.
“The other day, we were sprinting in the garden with friends,” she recalled. “I had aches and pains for three days.”
And while Simone—who has 11 Olympic medals under her belt—hasn’t confirmed whether she’ll be competing in the 2028 games, for now she has her sights set on living the soft life.
“I’m really trying to enjoy life, spend time with my husband [and] go support him at his games, and live my life as a woman,” she explained. “I’ve accomplished so much in my sport.”
“For me to come back,” she added, “it would really have to excite me.”
