A cyclist has been seriously injured in a crash involving a police vehicle at St Helens on Tasmania's east coast last night.
The incident, which police described as a collision, happened about 8:30pm near the intersection of Jason Street and the Tasman Highway.
Police said a woman riding a motorised bicycle sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
She received initial treatment at St Helens District Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
"As is normal practice in these circumstances, a Professional Standards investigation will be conducted into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash," Tasmania Police said in a statement.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
A police car was also involved in a crash in Launceston last month.
There were no reported injuries from the single-vehicle crash on the West Tamar Highway at Trevallyn on May 3.
