The Miss Universe Philippines Organization (MUPH) is once again on the hunt for local directors who will be tasked to select delegates from different towns, cities, and provinces across the country, as well as from overseas Filipino communities.
Under the Local and Global Directorship program, MUPH selects partners who will be responsible for fielding delegates to the national competition. This was loosely implemented in the inaugural edition in 2020, but has been strictly enforced starting 2024.
If from 2020 to 2023 MUPH still conducted general screenings for applicants, in 2024 no such activity was conducted and the national competition only accepted delegates who were fielded by the local directors.

The practice continued in the 2025 and 2026 editions of the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, wherein only the winners from local searches and overseas competitions or appointed delegates were able to step on the national stage.
“If you have the passion, leadership, and commitment to elevate pageantry in your community, this opportunity may be for you,” MUPH posted on social media when it made a call for local and global directors.
MUPH Vice President for Global and National Search Mags Cue explained the local director’s responsibililties in an earlier event. “He or she is in charge of everything. Number one is to pay the franchise fee or local director’s fee,” she said.
The program, she said, significantly eases the financial burden usually shouldered by a pageant contestant and her circle by appointing individuals or entities who will take on the logistical and other needs that a delegate may require in order to compete on the national level, including provisions for trainings, wardrobe, acccommodations in Manila, as well as the video requirements for the competition.

“He or she will give all the support, financially, emotionally, everything that a candidate will ever need to join a pageant,” explained Cue, who is the main person responsible for choosing the MUPH local and global directors.
“We do background checks if the local director is able and capable to be a local director. He or she should be financially able, emotionally stable, mentally stable, with the capacity to support the candidate all throughout the journey,” she shared.
