The Zamfara State Primary Healthcare Board, in collaboration with development partner ACASUS, has held a performance review meeting for directors of primary healthcare services across the state’s local government areas.
Speaking at the event in Gusau, the Executive Secretary of the board, Dr Husaini Yakubu Anka, commended development partners for their support in strengthening healthcare services in the state.
He said the progress recorded in the health sector was largely driven by collaboration between the government and its partners, noting that effective healthcare delivery requires collective efforts.

A representative of ACASUS, Munirat Isma’il, said the review meeting was aimed at assessing performance across local government areas and encouraging improvements in primary healthcare centres.

She explained that the assessment was based on routine monitoring conducted jointly by ACASUS and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (ZAMCHEMA), Zainaba M. Hassan, stressed the need to sustain investments in the health sector to consolidate gains recorded in primary healthcare delivery.
In a goodwill message, the WHO State Coordinator, Dr Raji Mukhtar, represented by Dr Mustapha, acknowledged improvements in healthcare services in Zamfara but urged stakeholders to address existing gaps.
He called for stronger collaboration among partners and relevant institutions to improve healthcare outcomes across the state.
Participants at the meeting reviewed the performance of primary healthcare facilities, identified challenges and discussed strategies for improving service delivery in local government areas.
