CEBU, Philippines — Beyond their three-peat championship run and the ₱500,000 prize, Cebuano businessman and sportsman Chase Cokaliong, the owner of the Chase Tower Runs, wanted to highlight the hardcourt talents from Visayas and Mindanao in the country’s biggest streetball stage, the “Dayo23.”
CTR, representing Cebu defeated Tikas Capampangan, 23–18, in a tightly contested final on Sunday in Tondo, Manila.
“The road was far from easy, which makes this championship even more special — I couldn’t be prouder of this team and everything we’ve worked so hard for to get here. Team CTR has always been about giving Cebuano and VisMin talent a platform to shine, and these guys continue to prove that we are the best in the country,” Cokaliong said.
His remarks posted on his Facebook account reflected CTR’s long-running basketball direction, which prioritizes the development and exposure of regional players competing against top-level opposition in national tournaments.
CTR’s third Dayo23 title
On the court, Carl Tamayo, a native from Talisay City, Cebu, delivered the decisive plays late in the contest to complete the comeback victory for the Cebu-based squad.
CTR overcame an early 12–2 deficit after Tikas Capampangan, coached by former Gilas Pilipinas standout Jeff Chan, established early control of the match.
Adjustments from coach Paul Joven, including defensive pressure and key rotations, helped CTR recover momentum and force turnovers that gradually shifted the flow of the game.

The contest was deadlocked at 18-all before CTR executed down the stretch, with Tamayo drilling a go-ahead three-pointer followed by a fadeaway jumper to seal the championship and the ₱500,000 grand prize.
CTR also drew key contributions from Jancork Cabahug, Titing Manalili, Harold Alarcon, Emmanuel Ojoula, Emman Calo, Kenny Roger Rocacurva, Ted Saga, Will McAloney, and the rest of the roster as it completed a rare three-peat in the tournament.
