Żejtune celebrated its North American premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on Saturday.
The latest feature by Maltese filmmaker Alex Camilleri is currently competing in Tribeca’s International Competition, one of the festival’s most prestigious sections.
Director Alex Camilleri, producers Oliver Mallia and Ramin Bahrani, lead actress Michela Farrugia and actor Nenu Borg attended the premiere in Manhattan alongside members of the Maltese diaspora living in the city.
Following the screening, the cast and crew participated in a Q&A session, with Nenu Borg also performing an impromptu spirtu pront for attendees.
Co-founded by Robert De Niro, the Tribeca Film Festival is considered one of the leading cultural and cinema events in the United States.
The film is currently in its tenth week screening in Malta and has already attracted around 9,000 cinemagoers across Malta and Gozo.
Żejtune will next continue its international festival run with screenings in France, Spain and Croatia later this month.
