Netflix has unveiled an October 23 release date and poster for Part 4 of its French-language crime drama hit Lupin starring Omar Sy as gentleman thief Assane Diop.
Sy will reprise his role in the new eight-episode season alongside Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard.
Released in October 2023, the seven-episode Part 3 ended on a cliff-hanger. Having faked in his death, Assane (Sy) spent most of Part 3 living in incognito, while pulling off a series of high-stake thefts in a bid to secure a safe and quiet life for his wife, son, mother and best friend, before concluding that the only way was to sacrifice himself, and then turning himself into the police.
In between times, Sy, who lives and works between L.A. and Paris, has been seen in a slew of features including The Book Of Clarence, The Stranger’s Case, John Woo’s The Killer and Shadow Force.
Produced by Gaumont in collaboration with Carrousel Studios (in which Sy is a partner), Lupin is freely inspired by the work and character ‘Arsène Lupin’ created by Maurice Leblanc in the early 20th century.
The series is created by George Kay in collaboration with François Uzan with the participation of Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer, and Tigran Rosine.
Writers on Part 4 include Mathilde Arnaud, Jean-Yves Arnaud, Tigran Rosine and Florent Meyer. Edouard Salier, Everardo Gout and Hugo Gélin directed.
