There was a genuine sense of pure celebration in the air as Authentic Restaurant, in Quinta do Lago, marked its second anniversary last Saturday (June 6) with a special evening that included great food, live entertainment and plenty of reasons to raise a glass.
Over the past two years, Authentic has established itself as one of the Algarve’s most exciting restaurants, earning a loyal following among residents and visitors alike. The anniversary celebration was the perfect opportunity to reflect on that journey while showcasing exactly why the restaurant continues to grow in popularity.
Guests were treated to a carefully curated four-course menu created by Chef Ricardo Luz, whose culinary talent continues to be one of the driving forces behind Authentic’s growing reputation. The anniversary menu showcased the restaurant’s refined yet approachable style, taking diners on a journey through flavours and textures designed to truly titillate the taste buds.
The meal began with carabineiro (scarlet shrimp) served alongside cauliflower, citrus and a delicate coral sauce. Next came sole meunière with celeriac and vanilla purée and baby vegetables. For the main course, guests enjoyed Authentic’s signature Beef Wellington, accompanied by truffled potato purée. It was easy to see why this has become one of the restaurant’s most celebrated dishes. A classic crème brûlée made with Madagascar vanilla provided the perfect ending to a truly delicious meal.
While the food was undoubtedly the star of the evening, the anniversary also offered an opportunity to reflect on what has been a remarkable journey for the restaurant and its team.
Owner Miguel Sequeira spoke proudly about the milestone, describing the past two years as an incredible experience. “It has been an amazing two years,” he said. “Much of our success is due to our fantastic team. Every member of staff contributes to creating the experience our guests enjoy, and I’m incredibly grateful for their dedication and passion.”
Adding to the festive atmosphere was a fantastic ABBA tribute band, whose energetic performance had guests singing along to some of the Swedish supergroup’s greatest hits. The entertainment brought an extra sense of fun to the occasion and ensured the evening felt like a real celebration rather than simply another dinner service.
Since opening its doors, Authentic has steadily built a loyal following among both local residents and visitors to the Algarve. Through consistently high standards, attention to detail and a welcoming atmosphere, the restaurant has become increasingly recognised as one of the region’s standout dining destinations.
A particularly significant achievement came earlier this year when Authentic received its first recognition in the Michelin Guide as a Recommended Restaurant. The accolade represents an extremely important milestone and confirms what many regular diners have known for some time – that Authentic is delivering a dining experience worthy of wider acclaim.
The restaurant has also continued to evolve. Recent improvements include the development of an enhanced outdoor dining area designed to provide greater comfort for guests, along with the addition of an elegant Champagne Bar. These additions have further elevated the overall experience and created even more reasons for visitors to linger and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
As guests raised a glass to celebrate the occasion, it was clear that Authentic’s second anniversary was about much more than marking another year in business. It was a celebration of a restaurant whose reputation continues to grow, and if the first two years are anything to go by, Authentic’s future looks exceptionally bright.
