EXCLUSIVE: WME has signed rising French horror filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček for representation in all areas.
Vaniček directed and co-wrote Evil Dead Burn, the next installment in the iconic Sam Raimi-created horror franchise, which releases via Warner Bros. on July 24.
Evil Dead Burn follows a woman who seeks solace with her in-laws after the loss of her husband, only for her to see them transform, one by one, into deadites — the Evil Dead franchise’s version of the demonic undead. She subsequently comes to discover that the vows she took in life survive, even in death.
Produced by Raimi and Rob Tapert, the film stars Souheila Yacoub, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Tandi Wright and George Pullar.
Vaniček was tapped to helm Evil Dead Burn following the breakout success of his feature directorial debut, Infested, an acclaimed spider horror film which premiered at the Venice Film Festival before going on to win Best Film and Best Director at Fantastic Fest. Infested also received a Special Jury Prize at the Sitges Film Festival and earned a César Award nomination for Best First Film. Following its festival run, the film was acquired by Shudder for North America and multiple international territories.
Vaniček continues to be represented by Studio 112 in Paris.
