A Dunedin man accused of murder will be assessed by psychiatrists to determine if he can stand trial.
The 37-year-old, who has interim name suppression, did not enter a plea when he appeared in the High Court at Dunedin on Tuesday morning.
The man was arrested after a body was found at a Somerville Street house in Andersons Bay on 22 May.
Police have identified the victim as Douglas Alexander Senior.
Justice Cameron Mander ordered expert reports to assess the accused's mental state ahead of his next court appearance next month.
He is tentatively scheduled to stand trial in 2028.
