Watch: Huge blaze rips through trees near Oamaru school

Fire has ripped through a macrocarpa hedge at Waitaki Boys High School in Oamaru.

Fire and Emergency were called to the school just before 9am on Tuesday.

The fire burned through about 200 metres of the hedge line.

Eight crews remained at the fire, but it was now contained, a spokesperson said.

No buildings were damaged.

Waitaki Boys' High School posted on social media that everyone was safe.
