Italy's grass-roots unions on Tuesday
confirmed a train strike from 03:00 Thursday to 02:00 Friday
after failing to see their demands met at the transport
ministry.
Workers at railway companies affiliated with CUB Trasporti and
SGB will strike from 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, to 2:00
a.m. on Friday, June 12, "in support of the platform for a
national collective bargaining agreement that adequately
protects the rights, safety, health, and wages of all railway
workers."
The unions called for the strike against the "black hole" of
tenders and "unbundling within the railway system and against
the company/signatory system that is destroying Mercitalia," the
two unions stated.
The protest comes after the big three confederated unions
suspended their eight-hour railway strike on June 11, related to
tenders for Intercity services.
